The responsibilities of the role are as follows:

· Key technical support for production; being seen as the first line of call in order to support and resolve concerns
· Provide guidance and support to teams involved in quality and process improvements
· Support both Design Engineers and production in NPI (new product introduction)
· Support and lead standardization efforts within operations
· Be a key player in the company’s continuous improvement efforts
· Manufacturing routings
· Produce Manufacturability Reports
· Attend design reviews
· Providing and delivering Engineering support to both manufacturing and design
· Contribute and be a key player in the Organisations drive for Lean and Continuous Improvement activities

To fulfil these requirements you must have the following skills / experience:

· HNC qualified (or equivalent experience)
· Strong electrical, electro-mechanical engineering background
· Design for manufacturing skills
· Good problem solving & lean manufacturing skills
· Must be team builder / team player
· Good communication skills across all levels

The responsibilities of the role are as follows:

· Establish production schedule, product process costs, identifying appropriate method of manufacturing
· Prototype and development liaison with Engineering
· Continuous revision of Manufacturing methods to increase efficiency
· Align specific product lines and ensure all relative routings; SOP’s, fixtures, tooling, procedures, processes, etc. are appropriately in place for manufacturing.
· Decide whether tooling is to be built in-house or sub-contracted out and maintain the responsibility of ensuring cost effective on time procurement.
· Design development - ensure all Health & Safety issues are considered, applied and designed into process.
· Assume the responsibilities for safe operating implementation for changed processes.
· Identifying and development of all production, assembly & test processes and procedures.
· Ensure products are produced in most economical proficient manner.

To fulfil these requirements you must have the following skills / experience:

· HNC qualified (or equivalent experience)
· Experience of hands on production/manufacturing engineering is required
· Must be familiar with CNC machinery, welding, fabrication and general sheet metal operations, and small machine/equipment design.
· Knowledge of bills of material, routings, manufacturing procedures, tooling/fixture design, Lean Manufacturing / C.I. principles, NPI etc. is required.

Section Leader - CNC Manufacturing Section

 Middlesex Salary: Up to £42,000

The client is a leading Aerospace organisation is now looking for a Production Manager to supervise a team of CNC Programmers who support a wide range of metal wasting manufacturing processes in a small batch environment, operating to high standards of quality and customer care promoting and supporting continuous improvement in design for manufacture and manufacturing processes.

Role:

• Supervising a department of CNC programmers, including: Performance, attendance and skills monitoring.
• Shift supervision, to ensure the machine shop shift is supported
• Supervising of work within the section, and monitoring workload priorities
• The progress of jobs from programming to prove-out and finally FAI approval are closely monitored such that machine downtime is minimised.
• To support manufacture activities on old and new products such that: - the application of new technologies and modem manufacturing philosophies are included
• Continuous improvement in manufacturing techniques is facilitated
• Tooling requirements are identified and reported.
• Jobs are programmed to run unmanned
• The inspection process is carefully monitored - When necessary, and without detriment to part fit or function, facilitate the prove-out inspection process by submitting MRAs
• To support a strategy for Lean Design for Manufacture
• To ensure parts are appropriate for manufacture, review, and mark-up new drawing and drawing amendments.
• Machine downtime is kept to an absolute minimum
• To support installations and commissioning of plant.
• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/instructed in order to maintain efficiency and quality of service provided by the Production Engineering function.
• To maintain and continually improve relevant department procedures.
• To maintain, document and continually improve best working practices for CNC programming, prove out, update and amendment of parts.

You

You will have experience in a similar role managing a machining cell. Also you will have experience in CAD/CAM/ NC programming of multi axis turning and milling centres.

Our client is looking to merge their Assembly and Test departments, and recruiting a new manager to head this section up. They currently suffering with bottlenecking between these two department and it will be the Production Managers responsibility to resolve this.

You will be responsible for :

Man Management of 6 Assembly Technicians, 2 Test Engineers and all sub contractors.
Liaising with Design, purchasing and distribution
Quality control
Health and Safety
Problem solving and de-bottlenecking
Improve production processes

You will be required to:

Be an experienced man manager
Be electromechanical, ideally electrically based
Have experience of conveyor, bulk handling or robotic systems
